Glenn Leembruggen - Principal

The principal of Acoustic Directions, Glenn Leembruggen is one of the world’s leading experts in the acoustic design of sound systems for important buildings with demanding requirements for music and speech amplification.

Glenn’s holistic understanding of the interdependence of architecture, acoustic environment, sound systems and sound quality brings great value to projects.  His approach to acoustic design is unique, combining knowledge of music, high-level acoustic and electrical theory, practical knowledge and measurement skills, along with a high listening acuity.

In recognition of his industry work and support of their Audio and Acoustics program, Sydney University has appointed Glenn an Associate of the Architecture and Design Faculty.

His current research areas are measurement and prediction of speech intelligibility, prediction of acoustical absorption and transmission loss, loudspeaker array design and the optimisation of sound in listening rooms.

Glenn has presented papers at international conferences on the prediction of speech intelligibility and the design of innovative loudspeaker solutions for problem spaces.  He has authored a number of journal papers and is a member of the maintenance team for the IEC standard governing the measurement of speech intelligibility by Speech Transmission Index.

Glenn is also a principal of ICE Design Australia.  ICE Design is the primary vehicle for Acoustic Directions’ acoustic and electro-acoustic design work in multi-disciplinary project which include audio visual, broadcast and lighting design.  Projects undertaken by ICE Design include parliaments, courts, boardrooms, conferencing and sporting venues.

For relaxation, Glenn enjoys playing saxophone in performing electric blues bands.

Our team

Part of Acoustic Directions’ success is the enjoyment of a collaborative business model that we have developed. This collaboration yields huge benefits in terms of innovation, quality, skill diversity, cross-pollination of thought, project approach and project continuity.

Our team’s skills encompass acoustics, electro-acoustics, electronics, live sound operation, and recording engineering. All up, our team has a combined experience in excess of 100 years.

David Connor and David Gilfillan, who are senior members of our collaborative, are also principals of their own consulting companies http://www.davidconnor.com.au and http://www.gilfillansoundwork.com.au.
